How To Take Care Of Your Vacuum Cleaner

You probably don’t give it a second thought. It’s always there for you when you need it and it never seems to need a thing. However, when something goes wrong and you are not able to use your vacuum you realize how important this piece of equipment is in your home. Without your vacuum you will have dirt and crumbs trapped in your carpet, under the cushions of your furniture and the dust will begin to accumulate on your ceiling. It’s just too awful to think about. You should do what you can to keep your vacuum in the best shape possible so that it lasts you a very long time and is the reliable piece of equipment that you need it to be.

You will need to perform a regular cleaning on the filter in your vacuum cleaner. The manufacturers of most of the bag less vacuum cleaners recommend that you clean the filter with water every few months or so. This is the part of the vacuum that comes in direct contact with all of the dirt and dust in your carpet. It is essential to the proper functioning of your vacuum that you keep it clean.

You should keep the dirt cup clean as well. Make sure that you clean it out after every cleaning. You don’t want the dirt to get so packed in the dirt cup that you have a hard time getting it out. If you make it a habit to clean it every time you vacuum this will not happen. Some of the newer models make it very convenient to empty the dirt bin by having a release that allows you to just hold it over the trash and let the dirt out.

Don’t forget about the beater bar on your vacuum. It can get tangled with long strings and pieces of hair. You should make sure that you check it often so that you can keep it clean. We have all had the experience of a jammed beater bar on our vacuum, but it is easy to forget about it while you are cleaning your house.

Take the time to maintain your vacuum cleaner and it will give you a long life. It is something that you use in your home frequently and probably don’t even think about. It does the cleaning; it doesn’t get cleaned, right? Well, if you take a little bit of time to keep your cleaning supplies and equipment clean and in good condition they will last you a very long time. You don’t want to end up in the store once a year, buying a new vacuum cleaner when you could have prevented it.
