Addressing The Target Group & Improving Recruitment Processes

Like most other company in the steel construction industry, ZeCo is affected by the ongoing shortage of skilled workers - and the search for technicians is proving extremely difficult. It had also been unclear for a long time whether the previously chosen channels were even suitable for addressing the right target group and drawing attention to job openings. There was a lack of meaningful statistics and guidance on how to improve the recruiting process and make it more effective in the future. Management was therefore looking for new approaches to find suitable applicants and encourage them to join the company.

To find more suitable applicants, ZeCo decided to target them directly where they prefer to spend their time. Therefore, our joint goal was to identify the social media channels used by experienced technicians. Simultaneously, the previous application process had to be redesigned to make it as easy as possible for potential candidates to contact the company. We also set out to find efficient ways of advertising job openings visibly outside of digital media and, preferably, without excessive costs.

Candidate Journey 

We worked with ZeCo executives in creative workshops to develop Canditate Personas and Candidate Journeys. Furthermore, we identified suitable touchpoints in order to accurately identify suitable applicants and inspire them to apply for the advertised positions.

Social Recruiting

While developing the persona, we identified Facebook as the most important social media platform for technicians. Contentfish therefore set up a Facebook page with an integrated application form for ZeCo.

HubSpot Power

Based on the powerful sales and marketing software HubSpot, the application process was digitized and associated processes were improved. As a result, the workload of the assembly manager responsible for personnel has been significantly reduced and qualified applicants receive feedback on their application more quickly.

Banners for Building Sites

As a next step, we designed appealing banners that are now clearly visible on ZeCo construction sites and express the company's high regard for its technicians.
